June 8, 2010 Media Education Center participates in the round-table discussion dedicated to Armenian language content on Wikipedia organized by Armenian Association for Academic Partnership and Support - ARMACAD on June 8, 2010, at the Yerevan-based Youth Center.  The wikiadministrators and the authors of the free on-line encyclopedia presented their insights to the audience of students, teachers and representatives of scientific community. Armenian Wikipedia, which has been available since 2006 (http://hy.wikipedia.org/) has already 9100 articles in Armenian.

 

 

 

 

 

June 1, 2010 Media Education Center participates in the action dedicated to International Day of Children in Yerevan. The event was organized at MSEC and supported by Annchristin Sandgren Swedish organization, US Embassy in Armenia and non-governmental stakeholders. The action gathered some hundred children from the capital, who expressed their attitudes to nature protection issues through their paintings and drawings at the site. Children’s works exhibition ‘Let’s Protect Animals and Nature’ was continued at the culture and media centre from June 1 to June 11.

April 29 and 30, 2010, Third Edition of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) organised by the  Council of Europe, the Swiss Federal Office of Communication, the Spanish Internet Governance Forum in Madrid. "Is it proportionate to cut access to the Internet for protecting copyright? eurodigShould Internet operators be liable for content published by their users? What role should Europe have in discussions concerning the regulation of the Internet across borders?" - these and other issues related to children’s use of social media, data protection, the emergence of cloud computing and the Internet in 2020 were disscussed. February 12 – April 01, Dissemination of a new Internet Safety Guide for Teachers, Parents and Children and World Vision's "Keep the Children Safe Online" interactive CD among children and youth. The two resources teach that the Internet can be a great educational tool and a fun place for children and educate them about risks, negative content, their rights to privacy.

January 26, 2010, Public Discussion held at the Yerevan Secondary and High School after Chekhov. 250 participants gathered at the Yerevan Secondary and High School after Chekhov, located in the heart of Armenian capital, to discuss children's on-line behaviour and risks. The meeting was a launch of month-long celebrations of the Safer Internet Day in Armenia organized by Media Education Center. Parents, teachers and NGO representatives took part in the meetng.
